BARRACUDAS 2010 MEET SCHEDULE DUAL meets start at 8:00AM
PRELIMS
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Vacation: Please let the coaches know, in writing, when a swimmer will be unable to attend practices or meets. This is extremely important for meet planning! Coach notification forms are available in the swim team box. Home Meets: On Friday evenings before our home meets (June 12th, 26th, and July 17th) you can come to the pool around 8:00 PM to help set up! It's always fun! Dual Meets: These meets are head to head competitions with another team in our division. They are 90 events long beginning with Freestyle distance races, the Medley Relay, Freestyle sprints, Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, the Individual Medley, more Freestyle, and finishing with the Freestyle Relays. Swimmers may compete in a maximum of 2 relays and 3 individual events. This year the league has asked that for our youngest swimmers who have difficulty completing a race, they only be entered in one event per meet, until such time as they improve their performance. This is necessary to keep the meet time down. Please notify the coaches if you need to leave the meet early so they can schedule only available people for the last relays. Preliminary Meets: Prelims are competitions with all 6 teams from our division. There are separate meets for the different age groups. We encourage all swimmers to participate in 3 events. The fastest finishers in each individual event will qualify for the Championship meet. Relays are not swum at Prelims. If your child swims in prelims, you must work a shift during prelims. Championship Meet: Championships are for swimmers who have qualified in individual events and/or relay teams. Relay events are an important part of the team's score and we like to swim as many' kids as possible in the relays. So remember, even if your swimmer does not qualify in an individual event, they could still swim on a relay at championships. If your child swims in championships, you must work a shift during championships. All Star Meet: The All Star meet is the league's season ending gala giving the top swimmers in each event a chance to test themselves against each other in head to head competition. Swimmers qualify for the meet by achieving time standards established for each event prior to the season, or by placing first in an individual event in the division's Championship meet. Only swimmers who qualify may swim in the meet, and a swimmer may only swim in events for which he/she has qualified. Swimmers may qualify for an All Star event in any Mountain Hi Swim League meet during the season. The qualifying times for each individual event are listed on a later page. The Willow Creek I pool is 25 yards long. There are no relays at the All Star Meet. The All Star Meet is a fun and exciting event. Every effort is made to provide the right setting for spirited competition and "peak" performances by the swimmers. The meet is held in an excellent facility and electronic timing equipment may be utilized for more accurate results. Entrants in the meet also receive a special "All Star" T shirt. There is an additional fee of $20 to enter this meet. Good Luck in qualifying for and participating in the All Star Meet! |
